After being subject to substantial renovation throughout the winter of 2008, the new-look Zebra has found itself become one of the most talked about ‘new’ venues on the San Antonio restaurant scene. Contemporary furnishings, both inside and out, are complimented perfectly by luminous lighting and an equally impressive ‘fashionable’ menu.
Whether you dine inside the air-conditioned restaurant or alternatively choose to eat alfresco in the large and chilled out terraced garden, the ambience at Zebra is one of a relaxed and fun nature. As to be expected with a venue that is a self-acclaimed ‘art and grill’, the menu boats some truly creative dishes that upon sampling, every bit live up to the stylish setting. The Summer Caprese salad consisting of tomato ice cream, mozzarella cheese and black olive pate is simply one such example, as are the handmade pizzas topped with the likes of octopus, squid and tataki. However there is no doubting the house speciality; the wonderfully cooked mixed grill consisting of steak, kobe ox, sobrasada, chicken and charrasco accompanied with Mediterranean vegetables and potatoes -a feast made in heaven! For those whose appetite doesn’t quite match that of a certain 16th Century King, an array of barbecued meats are on offer, each with their own unique touch. Simply, the flavours are great and well worth the effort to go out of your way for.
Furthermore, Zebra have a daily set menu along with a take away option; both of which prove to be ever popular amongst the restaurant’s local and tourist clientele. They also cater for large groups of people, with the option of devising a specific menu, given notice. With both great food and a wonderful setting, Zebra will undoubtedly continue to be a huge success.
