Located just behind Ibiza’s vibrant port, this long established eatery is practically as much a fixed object in the town as the ancient fortifications of Dalt Vila. Always to be met with a big smile from owner Jamie Chan, Nanking very much reflects his professionalism and passion. The décor is distinctively Chinese with the restaurant’s surprisingly spacious and elegant interior having a scattering of images associated with such a region.
A lot of thought and effort is said to be put into preparing the menu and the results are there to be seen. The cuisine is typical of a Chinese restaurant however there is nothing ordinary whatsoever about the exquisite flavours that are associated with the food. The Chinese style pigs’ trotters and fried ribs are well worth trying, with the fish and chicken dishes being equally as impressive. It doesn’t just stop there. In accompaniment to the meal, Nanking boasts some of the finest Spanish Reservas in its wonderfully well stocked and diverse wine cellar.
The restaurant has withstood the test of time and managed to maintain its high standards for 25 years. The service is very professional with polite and cheerful waiters willing to give advice if required. Nanking is most certainly recommended for any admirers of Chinese cuisine. The restaurant is open all year round, closing all day Wednesday and for Thursday lunch. They also provide a take away service.
