Naturally, it attracts a great volume of holidaying Scots who can come here and experience that “home from home” atmosphere, but that certainly is not the full story. With live sport, big name DJs, karaoke, pre-parties and the infamous Kilties Chippy all playing an important role, it manages to pull in a large and diverse crowd.
During the day, Kilties is an ideal venue to go and revitalise with a pint of Tennants or an Irn-Bru after too much time in the sun. Tables outside are plentiful and major sporting events are beamed out on televisions both in and outside of the pub. When there is no sport worth watching then Scottish comedy classics such as Billy Connelly and “Still Game” are played on the DVD. The punters who drink at Kilties tend to be as friendly as the staff, and it is a great place to meet new faces and exchange holiday tales, whether you hail from Bonnie Scotland or not.
Kilties is an equally good evening hotspot. Much livelier than in the daytime, the speakers are turned up and the DJs spin popular house anthems, and somehow, even in this small pub, there is room for dancing. On occasion, guest DJs play here and Kilties regularly hosts pre-parties such as the ever-popular Clubland. With plenty of fun and banter flowing, it is certainly one of the more unique and entertaining pubs in San Antonio.
